Devon is the perfect place for retirement whether you want to be near family and friends, to start a better life or to ‘come back’ after moving away.

We understand that finding and buying a home can be difficult and in a new area even more daunting. By making full use of modern technology, using traditional ways and 30 years of experience in helping people move, we will search out your new home, take away the stress and hassle and make your move as easy as possible. If you want to get to know an area better we are happy to take you on The Home Familiarisation Tour.

Homes for retirement are stereotyped as bungalows by the sea, ‘chocolate box’ country cottages or easily managed flats. These are all readily available in the county, in addition to the complete range of other homes which we can find to suit your requirements. Sheltered housing and retirement villages for the over 55’s are becoming more popular and is another specialist area we have experience in.

Retirement can mean having more time for hobbies and interests and the towns and villages in Devon have a range of clubs and societies to cater for this.

Devon has spectacular countryside and famous beauty spots ideal to photograph or paint. For those who enjoy country walking there is the South West Coastal Footpath with its stunning views, Dartmoor and Exmoor with their tranquil vast open spaces and many other fabulous walks in Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The Ramblers have local groups for exploring the countryside.

There are many historic sites and places of interest in the county with The National Trust particularly well represented from Sir Walter Raleigh’s Buckland Abbey to the quirky sixteen sided A La Ronde.

For spectator sports, Devon has premiership rugby at Exeter, championship football at Exeter, Plymouth and Torquay, horse racing at Haldon and Newton Abbot, point to point meetings and minor county cricket.

For the more active, there are fine and challenging golf courses with the stunning links courses and others in beautiful countryside. The extensive coastline and numerous estuaries provide wonderful scenery and excellent sailing, surfing and other water activities. For fishing, Devon has some of the best rivers in the country, in addition to the lakes, reservoirs and sea.

There is plenty of opportunity to swim, play tennis, squash, bowls and a variety of other sports and leisure activities.

The county is very accessible and has excellent transport links. The M5 connects at Exeter, mainline trains run to London and cross country to Edinburgh, regular domestic flights depart from Exeter International and Plymouth airports with additional services to Europe and other destinations. Daily ferry crossings from Plymouth to France and Spain provide an easy link to the continent.

Exeter and Plymouth are major centres for business and commerce. Both have modern shopping centres attracting individual stores and most of the High Street names. The Theatre Royal at Plymouth attracts West End Shows and throughout the county other venues show amateur and professional productions.

Whatever your hobbies or interests we consider them when you instruct us to find your new home. We are on the spot to immediately view anything suitable that comes on the market, and, when you have decided on your new home, we have the experience to advise you all the way through, handling the negotiations, sorting out any problems that may arise and we oversee everything until you move in. Using Devon HomeFinder really is the easy way to move.
